The Safety of Our Food Supply
Please join us in understanding the connection between food and health in our upcoming forum series entitled Food and Public Health- A Sampler. We have an extraordinary series of five events planned from September 2008 through May 2009 highlighting the complex issues of our food supply, including sustainable agriculture, the safety of our food, healthful eating, growing organically, buying locally, and food paradoxes in the land of plenty. With these forums, we are hoping to reach out to the public health and agricultural communities, and thus improve the health of all Minnesotans.
Join MPHA and guests for a discussion with Dr. Michael Osterholm, Director of the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy at the U of MN, and Dr.
Kirk Smith, Supervisor of the Foodborne Illness Division of the Minnesota Department of Health. We will talk about the safety of our food supply and the regulations and technologies available to protect the food supply and Minnesotans. Dr. Maureen Reed will moderate this forum. See the 'save the date' flier, (linked below) for information about this forum.
