MPHA Policy Resolution Process

The Minnesota Public Health Association adopts yearly public policy statements (resolutions or position papers) on important public health issues. The policy development process by the Association is designed to be open to full participation of the membership, and to ensure careful review by the members of the Association. Resolutions adopted by MPHA provide a record of MPHA's stance on a variety of public health issues and reflect the diverse interests of the MPHA membership.

If you want to submit a resolution
To submit a resolution for consideration, you may do so in one of the following two ways:

1) prepare and present a resolution to be reviewed at the MPHA Policy Committee meetings. This process allows your resolution to be reviewed and considered based on the existing MPHA resolutions.

2) Directly submit a resolution for consideration to the Governing Council at least 15 days before a Governing Council meeting. The Governing Council shall consider the resolution and report its recommendation back to the Association. A resolution for adoption by MPHA may be presented at any meeting of the Association if it has been signed by five (5) percent of the membership.

All resolutions may be presented at any meeting of the Governing Council but can only be approved at the MPHA annual conference.
