Minnesotans for Healthy Kids Coalition Lobby Day

  • March 25, 2015
  • 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM
  • Minnesota History Center

Join advocates from Minnesota to speak with legislators in a strong, unified voice about the importance of active living, physical activity, and combating childhood obesity. Reserve your spot today by registering online at www.heart.org/MNHealthyKids

The three issues the lobby day will focus on are:

Active Transportation – Support a statewide comprehensive multi-modal transportation package that includes significant new funding for active transportation.

Strengthen Physical Education – Support strengthening physical education (PE) in Minnesota schools by requiring grade appropriate curriculum benchmarks, requiring 2 credits of PE for graduation, and requiring PE be taught by a licensed PE teacher.

Statewide Health Improvement Program (SHIP) funding – Maintain $35 million in base funding for a statewide, long-term, sustainable SHIP program.

This event allows you to attend advocacy workshops and training and provides the opportunity to utilize those skills when you meet with your state legislators. Breakfast and lunch are included, and meetings with your state legislators will be scheduled for you.

There is no cost to attend but advance registration is required by March 2, 2015. For more details and to register, visit www.heart.org/MNHealthyKids.
