Recognizing that Minnesota has a nationally unique Statewide Health Improvement Program (SHIP); that securing and maintaining funding and support for health promotion, prevention and community health efforts is an ongoing challenge; and that the state has a growing mission to address health inequities; the MPHA partnered with the MDH to secure a grant from the American Public Health Association (APHA) to convene interested state partners in a Statewide Community Health Visioning Process. Our goal was to begin to build a stronger statewide support system for our community health work and for health equity.
As part of this planning process, about 45 people attended a State Community Health Visioning Process, held by MPHA and MDH on August 19, 2014. In addition, MPHA and MDH worked with a consultant to conduct key informant interviews through December 2014, with 10 organizational representatives.
