Public Health in Action:
Partnering with Communities for Change

This presentation will focus on the City of Brooklyn Center’s community engagement work. The speakers will highlight the city’s collaborative efforts with schools and community partners to advance health equity through meaningful partnerships and innovative outreach strategies.

Speakers:

  • Christina Jones has served as the Community Engagement Specialist for the City of Brooklyn Center for the past year and a half, enjoying building strong community connections and partnering with local resource organizations to improve community well-being. Prior to that, she spent seven years with Brooklyn Center Schools, including roles as Due Process Coordinator and Attendance Clerk, and two years as a Health Outreach Specialist at the School Health Resources Center.
  • Armando Oster is the Community Engagement Coordinator for the City of Brooklyn Center, where he has worked for more than five years. He has been an educator and youth coach for more than fifteen years. He values relationship building, collaboration and volunteerism.

MPHA Health Equity Committee meetings are scheduled for the 3rd Thursday of the month from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. Currently all meetings are virtual. Meetings are open to MPHA members and non-members who want to learn more and take action on advancing health equity in Minnesota.
