Concerns about COVID19 have made public health more visible to Minnesotans of late and we need to make sure that the voice of science and evidence moderates the debates about how to effectively respond.  The Minnesota Public Health Association is committed to creating a healthier Minnesota through effective public health practice.

MPHA strongly supports Governor Walz and Commissioner Malcolm’s Stay At Home order.  During this critical time, we have postponed our popular in-person events, including the Policy Forums and Annual Conference but remain connected through our website, our member-newsletters and social media.

MPHA committees and volunteers have been busy! MPHA created a new National Public Health Week resource page with daily themes connected to current COVID concerns.  We encourage you to read the 5 outstanding interviews and 3 insightful blogs - and share them with your colleagues and your own social circle through social media. We released a statement in Opposition of Deportation of Legal, Permanent Residents, with a section translated into Hmong and Laos, and will be featured in the American Public Health Association's May edition of The Nation’s Health for our Ancestral Lands Acknowledgement work. Updates on more MPHA activities can be found at https://mpha.net/.

Membership is nearly 40% of our annual revenue and many members have traditionally joined or renewed their commitment in the spring as part of their annual conference registration.  If you are not a current member of MPHA, we would encourage you to consider joining or re-joining MPHA to help us continue this important work.

During the first week of May, GIVEMN is hosting a #GiveAtHome campaign to encourage Minnesotans to make contributions to local non-profits.  During the entire month of May, administrative fees are waived so 100% of contributions will go to the charities of your choice.  If you appreciate MPHA and you have the means to give, we would encourage you to consider donating to our organization. Our GiveMN webpage is at: https://www.givemn.org/organization/Mpha.

Thank you for the important work YOU do to protect and promote strong, evidence-based public health for all Minnesotans!
