Dr. Harold 'Hal' Leppink scholarship

Background

The Dr. Harold ‘Hal’ Leppink Scholarship is awarded to an early career professional working for Local Public Health located in Greater Minnesota. This scholarship was established in 2021 as a memorial to Dr. Leppink’s pioneering spirit, innovation and dedication to the field of public health. This scholarship is intended to honor Dr. Leppink’s contributions to public health exemplified by Dr. Leppink’s steadfast advocacy and mentorship of early career professionals to advance public health practice, particularly in rural areas of Minnesota and for his longstanding involvement with the Minnesota Public Health Association. 

In addition to a certificate of award, recipients will receive a Minnesota Public Health Association (MPHA) scholarship to cover a 1-year membership to the MPHA and the cost of registration for the next MPHA annual conference.

Guidelines

Nominees must:

  1. Be an early career professional defined by having between 1 and 10 years of work experience in a public health or public health-related work.
  2. Be working in Greater Minnesota (outside of the 7 County Twin Cities metropolitan area).
  3. Have displayed innovation and creativity in the public health work that they have done. 
  4. Exhibit a consistent record of high-quality service and professional excellence.
  5. Demonstrate a strong commitment to collaborative professional activity and teamwork.
  6. Demonstrate outstanding professional integrity.
