Transportation and Healthy Communities

The presentation will cover the intersection of transportation and community health. It will focus on how transportation access and personal transportation choices impact our communities and include a discussion on positive ways to change how we get around. Topics include increasing physical activity, improving community connections, and improving air quality. This presentation will include a brief interactive game and be followed by a brief Q&A.

Presenter Bio:

Molly Burns-Hansen (they/them) is a Community Engagement Coordinator at Move Minnesota. Molly works with residents and community stakeholders in the City of Saint Paul to connect people with existing transit, bike, carpool, and pedestrian resources. Molly is motivated to inspire and empower individuals to change their transportation choices for the better of our planet. Whether it's through one-on-one conversations, hosting educational events, or a group transit ride, Molly loves teaching people about the magic of getting around in sustainable ways. Molly holds a B.A. in Social Science from Metropolitan State University, where they focused on Disability Studies.

MPHA Health Equity Committee meetings are scheduled for the 3rd Thursday of the month from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. Currently all meetings are virtual. Meetings are open to MPHA members and non-members who want to learn more and take action on advancing health equity in Minnesota.
