10th Annual Women's Health Research Conference

On September 16, 2013, the Powell Center will host its 10th Annual Women's Health Research Conference at the University of Minnesota’s McNamara Center on the East Bank of the campus (200 Oak St SE, Minneapolis, MN).  See http://www.mac-events.org/directions/index.html for directions and parking.

 

The conference is entitled, “Optimizing Women’s Health Through a Life Course Approach.” It is a regional conference for public health, medicine, social work, and nursing students and professionals. 

 

The conference will feature:

  • Dr. Paula Braveman (an expert in social disparities from the University of California/San Francisco) and Dr. Janet Rich-Edwards (an expert in women’s health from Harvard University);
  • University of Minnesota experts, including Dr. Michael Resnick (adolescent health), Dr. Michael Georgieff (fetal and neonatal growth), Dr. Dianne Neumark-Szteiner (adolescent health and nutrition), Dr. Rebecca Shlafer (maternal health and incarceration), and Dr. Bruce Redmon (infant development); and
  • Minnesota Department of Health expert in genomics and epigenetics, Kristin Oehlke. 

The conference also offers an opportunity for researchers and students to share their work through a poster session.  Poster abstracts will be accepted until August 23.  Lunch will be provided to all registrants.
