June 2 is Global Heat Action Day!
Protect the health of your patients and communities by joining us! We are excited to co-host the “Public Health Actions for Extreme Heat Protections” Training with ecoAmerica, The National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC) and National Network of Public Health Institutes (NNPHI). This interactive training will equip you with the knowledge, hands-on experience and resources to speak and take action to protect your practice and your community against extreme heat.
Extreme heat kills more people each year than all other extreme weather events combined and disproportionately affects vulnerable communities. Fortunately, many, if not most, heat-related illnesses and deaths are preventable. Content for this training includes:
By the end of this training, you will be able to:
Explain the health impacts of extreme heat by identifying its impacts and how it exacerbates existing health inequities.
Identify strategies to treat and mitigate heat-related illnesses in individuals.
Describe community-based strategies to increase protections against extreme heat, particularly for vulnerable populations.
Communicate effectively on extreme heat and health using evidence-based strategies.
Attendees will connect extreme heat to health outcomes and hear real-world examples of local heat protection initiatives. This training is accredited for three units of continuing education at NO COST for a variety of health professionals.
