The threats to the 2026 midterms aren't abstract. For public health, they're personal.

The American Public Health Association (APHA) is hosting a webinar with Protect Democracy, a nonpartisan legal and policy organization, to dig into what's at stake for public health in the 2026 midterms.

For the first time in modern American history, the federal government itself is being used to undermine our elections. The strategy has a name: Deceive, Disrupt, Deny. The goal? Make people doubt whether elections are trustworthy, create confusion in how they’re run, then use that confusion to challenge results. It happened in 2022 and 2024, and it's already escalating as we head into the midterms this year.

Democracy isn't separate from public health work. When government stops functioning for people, when accurate information gets drowned out, when democratic systems break down, our ability to protect and improve the public's health breaks down, too.

This webinar will explore the current threat landscape and walk through concrete ways the public health sector can respond.
