2017 to 2018 Policy Forum Series: Who can you trust?

This year’s forums explored ideas about trust in the increasing number of choices we make to achieve and maintain our health. They were thought-provoking conversations that sparked ideas about the information we receive and who delivers that information to us in our rapidly changing world.

All forums were held at the New Brighton Community Center, located at 400 10th St. NW in New Brighton. Breakfast and on-site registration began at 7:00am. Each forum started promptly at 7:30am and concluded at 9:00am.

Panelists and forum participants explored our information-seeking behaviors for health, and healthy choices and who we choose to provide that information to us.

With ever-expanding sources for information whom should we trust to deliver the health messages? How can we as public health professionals help in ensuring that credible sources of information are used?  This forum explored the use of celebrities, social media, news commentaries and more.

In this forum our panelists and forum participants explored the role of health promotion through industry and government reports, the claims and promotion of guidelines, and the promotion of drugs and nutritional supplements through advertising.

Who can you trust …in your community? - May 4, 2018

It takes an entire community to provide resources and services to help keep us healthy. From social workers, to teachers, to peace officers, to religious leaders, to health professionals, we rely on others. Can they be trusted?  What criteria should we use to assess their trustworthiness?
