          Southern Minnesota Active Transportation Summit

          September 29-30, 2023

          In-person & Virtual

Bicycling and walking are resurgent thanks in no small part to disruptions caused by the pandemic. In response, cities and towns quickly innovated to create new infrastructure. With more and better places to bike and walk, more people were drawn to the streets, sidewalks and trails.

The first annual Southern Minnesota Active Transportation Summit will examine how to respond to this renewed demand, while looking forward to ensure that we don’t return to our sedentary ways.  Plan to participate to learn how to take advantage of the multiple resources available to improve the built environment and how to advocate effectively for change. Capacity is limited so register today to attend in-person or virtually.

The Arizona Public Health Association (AzPHA) Board of Directors is very proud of a new report released by our affiliate titled, "Gun Violence in Arizona: Data to Inform Prevention Policies"

AzPHA identified firearm violence as a priority in our strategic planning process last year. AzPHA member (and former MN affiliate member!) Allan Williams, MPH, PhD helped mentor Julia Jackman, an MSc Candidate in Global Health Fulbright Study and Research to complete this comprehensive report.

While it paints a bleak picture (the lifetime risk of death by firearm is 1 in 81 Arizonans), this report will serve as an invaluable advocacy tool. And we hope can help serve other APHA affiliates and sections!
